Your Recommendations?

I have been told by Normal Girl to shop for a new computer. I can use one but I don't want to be responsible for this choice. Neither does she, the slacker. What should I buy?

we're a four-dell-family. 1 desktop and 3 laptops.

don't shop off the website - call. you'll get a great deal and the sales people are very helpful and take their time.

i've never had a bad call/encounter w/ dell.

Interesting. My last two, work supplied computers have been Dells and both were completly horrible. Maybe work buys cheapo ones or something.

many ppl i know would say get a mac. i used to use macs but haven't for years.

my cousin knows a ton about computers and builds them and sells them where he works. i can ask him for his recommendation if you tell me what your looking to do w/ it. like what programs you will use on it and so on.

have bought 8 Dell's over my lifetime - had nothing but trouble - would never buy another one - bought a mac for our office 2 years ago and just switched to a macbook pro myself and will never go back.
You always have sluggish computer problems - i do not have that with a mac - and the 2 yr old mac in our office handles HUGE HUGE graphic files - and lots of them...still it is not slow.

Oh waaaa, I know. I would love a Mac. I would have to sell my car to get it.

I was going to mention a Dell before I read all the other posts! :) I have never had a problem with them - only with Windows. Whatever you do - google "______ promo codes" fill in the blank with the brand name. We used a promo code online when we bought my mom's computer and got $400 off - no strings attached!

Thanks Keri, I will do that for sure!

Buy this one starting at $1100 -
http://www.apple.com/macbook/

Buy this one to be like me and HPB starting at $1999 -
http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/

BUT! Don't buy anything for at least 2 weeks. The Apple Nerd-A-Thon Conference is around the corner and they always announce new things which drops the price of everything else.

You'll love a Mac.
