Theme Song

This is my current theme song. I have sung it 897235726342 times in the last two weeks. It was so very nice of Third Day to sing it live when I saw them at Universal Studios. It meant a lot to me.

UGH. I just played this and noticed it has an ad! SORRY! But, you have to see this version with Salvation Mountain in it......

My life has led me down the road that's so uncertain
Now I am left alone and I am broken
Trying to find my way
Trying to find the faith that's gone

This time I know that you are holding all the answers
I'm tired of losing hope and taking chances
On roads that never seem
To be the ones that bring me home

Give me a revelation
Show me what to do
'Cause I've been trying to find my way
I haven't got a clue
Tell me should I stay here
Or do I need to move
Give me a revelation
I've got nothing without you
I've got nothing without you

My life has led me down this path that's ever winding
Through every twist and turn, I'm always finding
That I am lost again
Tell me when this road will ever end

I don't know where I can turn
Tell me, when will I learn
Won't you show me where I need to go
Let me follow your lead
I know that it's the only way that I can get back home

Road trip to Salvation Mountain anyone? Isn't it cool? Click on the art tab to see pics. And then imagine yourself standing there in California, in the sunshine, wearing shorts and flip flops (for you Michiganders), singing Revelation. When do we leave?

Waiting for one,
Normal Girl

It Worked

It appears that the relocation program was successful. I have NEVER had this many apples on my tree before. Now, imagine the alternative. The bad raccoons actually climb the tree, get out on the branches and eat the apples. Amazingly dextrous little buggers. But, they are gone, wahoo!

Interesting Instructors I Have Known

Did I tell you about my summer class instructor? I probably did, it was one of my hot topics. He was absentee. He never came to the discussion board. He never graded our papers. Class ended in early August and I still have no returned papers and no grade for the class. I gave him a really bad evaluation. And I emailed the communications department twice. I found it a big frustrating, expensive rip off.

So, I am happy that is all over and I have moved on to the fall semester. I am taking a class called Teaching and Learning Online. A week into class, we get a new student, signed up late. It is my summer class instructor....heretofore to be known as Mr. Brady (not his real name of course). Do you think he has been told to take the class because he got a really bad evaluation from his summer class?

We introduce ourselves to each other at the beginning of the semester and the other students in my class are all intimidated to have an instructor as a fellow student. Oh, if they only knew. So far, he posts late, in the wrong place on the discussion board, and with such poor grammar and spelling, I wonder if he is drunk. He is the same kind of student as he is a teacher.

Here is my favorite part. We have one group project for the semester and the instructor assigned us into groups of three. Oh yeah. You know it. Mr. Brady is in my group!! How can you not laugh???

Dusting Off the Torch

I have not had the torch on all summer. I am not telling a lie when I confess that there were cobwebs on it this afternoon when I felt like making a few beads. When I sat at the bench, these colors jumped out at me. I really liked them together. Hope they look as good on your monitor as mine. They are just fabu.

Maybe the spell is broken now,

Check Out My Cooties

I had the aisle seat on the way home tonight. The woman who sat next to me in the middle seat, got in, flicked up both of her armrests to a 45 degree angle and said out loud, "I need my space!"

It was uncomfortable not having a place to put my arm, and I thought that she just couldn't push it up all the way. So, I asked her if she intended to push it all the way up. No. She wanted it there and said, "I want it there so that you can't touch me. I cannot have you touching me." I just smiled because I thought she was kidding and I pushed it up. She then said, "I can only have it all the way up if you promise not to touch me!" She was stressing and making sighs like I was holding a gun to her head.

THe guy in the window seat came late and we had to get up to let him in. She was disgusted. And took the opportunity to flick the armrest back to 45 degrees. I left it there and had to lean out into the aisle to fit myself into the seat. I was pressed against it for more than two hours and had an imprint of the buttons on my arm. I admit not feeling charitable toward her, but she was acting so weird, I thought it best to leave her alone. My spine had to adopt an S shape to be able to fit in the seat with no place to put my left arm. Very uncomfortable.

At the end of the flight, everyone was struggling to collect luggage and get out. It was a three seats on each side configuration and that just takes time to empty out. The people in the middle and window seats cannot get to the overheads until the aisle seat people get out. As the people in the row ahead of us are getting their bags down, the nutty lady says, "What it is about getting out of the airplane that is a surprise to you people? Why can't you just be ready to get out?"

Yikes, I could not get out of there fast enough. I was kind of hoping someone would punch her and kind of feeling sorry for her.

So, I came home and rolled a log of goat cheese in dill and ate it. Look at that. My cooties are gone.

Humanity can sure be weird,

The Perfect Spot

Hanging at the beach is suiting me very well this week. Usually I like the woods better than the beach, but I admit, this is working for me. Because:
  • The waves are loud, I can sing outloud and nobody can hear me
  • school is in and it is Florida, I am the youngest person for miles
  • the temperature is great out by the water
  • walking in the sand is a natural pumice
  • I can walk or ride a bike anywhere I need to go
  • souvenirs are free, found some great shells and sand dollars
  • It is post season and hardly anyone is here
Thanks HPB!

At the Beach

I am spending a couple days at the beach. The Human PinBall drove me to her beach house, kicked me out the door, and drove off.... because I need to spend some time listening to God. Like her beach house? Psych, just kidding.

This is really her beach house, way cuter than that first one.... inside and out. So, after I picked myself up out of the driveway and dragged my suitcase inside, I walked to the beach.

Nobody was there but me. Look at the sky. Pink and blue and gray.

And then God arrived.

I was listening then,

Rock the Universe

Q: How do you make a short woman feel like a giant?
A: Stand her next to the Human PinBall and Cute HPB's daughter

Q: Who is having the most fun at the Hawk Nelson concert, Embarrassing Dancing Mother or Painfully Singing Boy?
A: HPB who is taking pics of people in the crowd

Q: How cute is Hawk Nelson?
A: I tried to be perfect, tried to be honest
Tried to be everything that you ever wanted
I tried to be stronger, tried to be smarter
Tried to be everything but you

Q: Why does Mac Powell of Third Day look like he has been living under a bridge?
A: No, really, why?

Rock the Universe was great!

Yellow Daisies

Spent part of the day at Stone Mountain (in Atlanta) walking the Yellow Daisy Festival yesterday. It was hot and sweaty, but it did not rain. And I got to have Chick Fil A. What more could I ask?

I used to go to this craft show every year, but have not been in some time. Human PinBall and I walked and tossed ideas back and forth. We got a few good ones. I was surprised to see that fabric/sewing was so popular. The best thing in the show was clothes for little girls. We saw the cutest stuff on earth. Too bad (or to good) that neither of us have any little girl to dress.

I did see some art that I like a lot. Maybe I am inspired to paint. We'll see.

I did not buy much: a couple paintings, posters from the artist who did the festival advertisement design. Girl World will reap the spoils. Come see. We ran across an old pal, it was a fun day.

I have a great story to tell about my class this semester, maybe tomorrow......

First Day of School

I was walking through the neighborhood this morning as the kids were arriving for the first day of school. There is an elementary school a block from my house. Some things have changed and some things remain the same since my elementary school days. I guess. I could have some TV show memories, I wonder if I really remember back that far.

The parents stay at school with the kids on the first day?? Maybe they just want to hear what the President is going to say this morning. Cars are still parked for blocks.

There were many families walking to school with umbrellas and rain boots this morning. Some kids all dressed up in new school clothes. Some kids looked just like they did all summer. One kid stood on the sidewalk and would not move any farther no matter how the grandparents tried to persuade. One girl made her Dad stay at the corner. And he did, watching her all the way in.

I got on the bus every single first day of school, except kindergarden, so for me, it was just business as usual. Exciting to see old friends and open my new clean notebooks and write with my new pencils.

Today is my first day of school too. It is sad that I don't need new school supplies anymore. I do have $300 worth of textbooks. There is a payoff though. I am going to my first day of school sitting on the couch in my underwear.

Times have changed,

Sparkle

Some of you have already met my newest alter-ego. Sparkle. Sparkle loves glitter and beads and has a blog of her own. www.thesparklestudio@blogspot.com

About a week and a half ago, Sparkle got on facebook. She already has 100 friends. Man, she is popular. She just invited everyone that facebook suggested to her. And people are friending her in droves. It got me thinking. Maybe 3 or 4 of you know that Sparkle is me. That makes 96 or 97 that don't know her from Adam. Out of those 100 new friends, only 3 people sent a message asking who the heck Sparkle is. Why do people friend people they don't know?

Sparkle even has one celebrity.....well, famous.......well, used to be famous friend. Angela Cartwright. Remember her? Google her and see. Unless you are under 50, then even googling her will make you say, "huh?" Anyway, how cool is Sparkle?

Next....Sparkle Twitter!

Birthday Dinner

Dad's birthday. He chose Krysiak's, a neighborhood restaurant. It's Polish. Bay City is 98.9% polish people. OK, I exaggerated.... 97.9%. He likes Krysiak's. The rest of us, not so much. Yes, Dad is reading a book at the dinner table. We had the buffet. Here are some of the delicious offerings from the buffet:

Oh yeah, what kind of meat is gray made into sausage in the basement of the restaurant?

Oh yummy. Want some now?

Oh baby, appetizing, right?

Dead flowers are highly valued in Poland??

We had a blast!
