Green is Not New

It is a big thing right now to be green, to recycle, to make new out of old, to repurpose. You have heard all of the buzz words. Yeah. I have always been that person. But, I did it because I didn't have money to buy new stuff. Lots of my furniture came from the thrift store or the side of the road.

So, I regularly do green projects. Now it makes me cool instead of cheap. Sometimes I have a vision of what I want for the end, but don't have much of an idea of how to get there. My poor Dad answers all my questions and tells me it can't be done. He's right, and I do it anyway.

This is one of those projects. I wanted a lamp over my bed for reading. I had this bowl I bought for $5 at Hobby Lobby a couple years ago. It was hot pink when I bought it. I sprayed it green. So far so good.

I also had a cord that I got at IKEA for 3.99. I sprayed it too. Still good.

I put it all together. I could not make my cord come out of the center of the bowl, so it is a little of center. And the cord does not have an on/off switch. The lamp has to be turned off by unplugging it. That must be why those cords are so cheap. I plugged in a power strip and attached it to the side of my bed so I can plug and unplug the light without getting out of bed. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

I am giving my project an 8. Not perfect, but the price was right,
