Starving Artist

I received this check today, it is a royalty check for a book I co-wrote with the HumanPinball and Barbara the Magnificent. I know what you are thinking. "That is not very much money to receive each month for royalties on a book!" Well, you would be right, except that is not a monthly check, it is annual!!

Writing a book is not looking all that glamorous now is it? Good thing writing a book is a very creative experience. And, it is fun to see my name as author whenever I write one. And, it is a real blast to google myself and see my books come up.

And, I only wish I would starve a little more,
Normal Girl

That makes me nervous as I am in pre-production of my first book..honestly I guess it is all about the passion and not the money..don't spend it all in one place!!

Doreen, it very much depends on who is marketing your book, and what they are doing with it. Good luck on your first book, it is exciting, right??

Normal girl I love reading all of your posts. You are very creative! My mom has been writing children's books for years and has never published them.. Could you give me any advice in where she could start? I would love it!

Cmar, I wish that I could, but I don't know anything about writing children's books. I write how-to books. I would suggest looking at a local junior college for a writing for publication class. Mine has some good ones with published authors. Or, maybe you could find an online class. She just needs info on how to query or submit. Good luck to her!
