Round Robin Bracelet Round 2

Guess who is in the Round Robin project?  The Diplomat, and this is her journal.  She made it with tags, held together with fibers.

And this is her bracelet theme: cool metal, warmth of words.

She started with a bracelet of large round links, and a couple Green Girl Studios charms.  This is one side of the charms.

This is the other side of the charms.  Fits her theme well.

Here is the bracelet after two rounds.  VA had the bracelet before I did, she added the lily pad leaf and the dangling crystal and tiny silver beads.  I added CHANGED FOR GOOD.  The Diplomat saw Wicked with me on Broadway and that is a song about a person that is in your life and how she changes you.

Stayed tuned for Round 3 and a different bracelet,

Art in the Park

Art in the Park has been this weekend.  We have the second largest  art fair in the state of Michigan, second only to Ann Arbor.  Artists come from all over the country to exhibit.  It is one of the best shows I have attended, not too big, not too small.

It started out like this yesterday.  I got soaked when they closed the show for lightning in the area and I had to walk home.  It was really pouring.

But by today, it was like this.  Perfect weather.  And the crowd was thick.  The show opened at noon and it was already impossible to walk down the streets.  Maybe the home town art fair in the park has become more important.  We don't have gas to go far on vacation, so we are doing things closer to home?  I don't know, but the turnout made the artists very happy.  People were shopping and buying.  A lot.

I am sharing with you three booths I thought were run by marketing geniuses.  This one has people standing in the street laughing.  Pet clothes.

This one was great, like they are laughing in the face of the green thing that is happening across America today.  I thought it was a unique take on global warming.

And this one seemed a little weird to me.  She had a table full of soy candles.  You burn them and when the wax is melted, you scoop it out and apply it to your skin as lotion.  Apparently soy is not burning hot when melted.  I did not try it.  Tell me if you have.

I went back downtown today but was really glad that I did my serious booth-looking yesterday.  There were at least 7623451273093423 people there and they all had dogs on people-tripping leashes.

This week, the Ann Arbor Street Fair.  I will have more inspiration than I have time to work on!

The Party Got Out of Control

I got home last night to find that the woodchucks and raccoons had a party while I was gone.  They know that is against house rules, but they continue to defy me.  You can see it got out of control and something got broken.  They tell me they don't know how it happened.  But, I know they invited those cormorants over.  They are trouble.  I am not even going to show you the empty bottles, it is pathetic.  I am not cleaning it up, they will scavenge it all down into the burrow on a couple hours when the hangovers wear off anyway.

It is like having kids,

Bracelet Story #5

I made this bracelet at a cool place here in Orlando a couple years ago.  It is no longer open.  It was a store where you went to sit and make craft projects.  They had a bunch of projects set up, and a person working there would get you started and you sat and created.  HPB took me there for my birthday and told me I could make whatever I wanted.  I really liked these dyed coral discs.  So I stacked them together in sections and added some black bead dangles in between the sections. Everything is wire wrapped in place.   When I got home, I added a few more dangles and some charms.  When I wear it, it reminds me of a fun night with HPB and Sandy, my friend who also lives in Michigan.

I hope you have things you wear that remind you of people, places and things!

HomeStudio

The Human PinBall made a great find on Etsy.  If you have not been to Etsy, it is very cool.  It is full of all kinds of handmade items by all kinds of artists.  These are Scrabble tiles that have been turned into charms.  How cute are they?  These are the ones that HPB bought, but there are tons more.  She gave me the one that says Keep Calm and Carry On.  HPB says that it is a saying from the British army.  See the little crown at the top?

HPB hung this one on her camera bag with her T tag.  T stands for The.  That is her nick name, short for THE Human PinBall.  It is a little brownie camera.  To check them out go to HomeStudio.  Enjoy!

Tetters

I am working this week for the HPB.  It is fun to work here.  She has a new office.  All of the beads and sequins and glitter you could ever want are just hanging on the walls for you to pluck them off.

I sat at the table all day and made jewelry.  That is a really good day for me.  As usual, HPB taught me some computer stuff and we had several interesting conversations.  We sometimes have the word of the day.  Today it is tetters.  Ever heard that word?  It came to our attention on a Gold Bond powder commercial.  It is good for tetters.  Tetters, as we learned after looking it up, is any kind of skin rash.  There you go.  Use it in a sentence at least once today.

Just a sampling of what I made today.  Look for them in kits at Wal-Mart sometime soon.  And you can make them too!

The Human PinBallette,,,,looking for work to do to earn a couple bucks.....

I am glad to report that she does not have Tetters.

the Huddled Masses

At the Orlando airport tonight I got caught in a mob scene much like this one.  We rode in from the terminal on the little train and when we got off, the recording told us to follow the signs for Baggage claim B.  We did.  But, the hallway that leads to baggage claim B was closed, blocked off.  So all of us keep walking and end up in a mass of people facing a wall with no place to go.  It was late at night and I am using that as an excuse.  The whole mob of people just stood there staring at the wall, getting more and more packed in as more people joined the mob.  I really wanted to, ever so quietly, just say .....mooooooooo.  But I didn't.  I did get a good laugh out of the possibility.

I am at the home of the Human PinBall, heretofore to be called the Arcade.  All of the little pinballs are asleep.  They have the air conditioning cranked up for me.  Tomorrow, HPB will chain me to a table and put me to work.
